Ao Nang Cliff Beach Resort – The Best Sunset in Krabi

Ao Nang Cliff Beach Resort

What a view at the Ao Nang Cliff Beach Resort! The sun is setting across the horizon over the Andaman Sea, giving a golden glow to the sky. Half green, and now half golden limestone cliffs adorn the landscape in front of us. It is truly a sight to behold. Everyone around us has stopped whatever they are doing and are completely awestruck by what is transpiring in front of them. After a long tiring day of touring different islands around Ao Nang in Krabi, this was exactly what we needed. Floating around in a beautiful and huge infinity pool overlooking the sea and the city, our evening cocktails in hand, with one of the most beautiful sunsets we have ever seen, we truly had a moment to remember on our Thailand trip.

Entrance to Ao Nang Cliff Beach Resort

After a fantastic few days spent at the Alisea Pool Villas and trying out life away from the city, we are ready to go into tourist mode and see what Krabi’s premier tourist destination, Ao Nang, has to offer. A quick 15 minute taxi ride and Ao Nang beach is here. As we gaze out the window, the streets are packed with tourists from all over the world. Some are haggling shopkeepers for the best bang for their buck, some are sipping mango smoothies and enjoying the sun, while some are trotting around without a care in the world. The sun kissed colourful colossal crowd of tourists, accompanied on their way by a cool breeze and the sound of waves of the Andaman Sea has set the atmosphere up for us. We have a good feeling about this. A couple more minutes pass, and we have arrived.

View from our panoramic room at Ao Nang Cliff Beach Resort

Unusual but true signs in the room

Located at about a seven minute walking distance from the beach, is the Ao Nang Cliff Beach Resort. As we step into the lobby, we realize how humongous this place is. An absolutely grand entrance way, enamoured by huge limestone cliffs, peeking over the shoulder of the resort welcomes us. Upon being greeted by friendly staff and refreshing welcome drinks, our expectations are now sky high. Our jaws drop as soon as we step foot into our rooms, looking at the panoramic views in front of us. The Andaman sea and the famous Thai limestone cliffs are there for us to admire, right from our balcony. Boatloads of people are being whizzed off to the world famous Railay beach in the distance, manoeuvring around 100 ft tall limestone cliffs on their way. It truly is a sight to behold, especially with a bathtub located right in the balcony!

View from the infinity pool at the Ao Nang Cliff Beach Resort

Best. Infinity. Pool. Ever“. The crown jewel of Ao Nang Cliff Beach Resort is the infamous infinity pool and it is located right outside our room, and it is fabulous! Perched almost at  cliff, literally, the pool overlooks the best Ao Nang has to offer. With the sun setting in front of us, providing the perfect golden shade at the perfect angle to the huge cliffs to our left, as we, and Ao Nang right below us, watch it transfixed. Getting a few drinks from the pool bar, we let the sunset be our guide as we welcome our first night at Ao Nang beach in style.

Batik paintings and art at Ao Nang walking street

Local artists with their masterpieces at Ao Nang walking street

All dressed up and having a fancy buffet right on the street with live music starts off our night in a pleasantly surprising way. Anything and everything we could imagine is here, everything from Italian to Continental to Seafood to vast array of desserts, and is delicious. Choosing the right restaurant for dinner is one of the most tricky aspects of traveling, but the resort delivered and so did the Ao Nang Buffet. We discover probably the most interesting aspect of our stay after stepping out of the resort post dinner. The art scene in the area is unbelievable. Batik artists and painters adorn the street which leads from the resort to the beach, with their eye catching craft on display, as they also partake in a live demonstration of their skills, open for public to admire. Tour guides, massage parlours, restaurants and souvenir shops pass by us, as we take in the spirit of Ao Nang on a beautiful night, but maybe that’s a story for another time. We have our tours booked and plans made for the next three days and retire to our rooms.

Breakfast at Ao Nang Cliff Beach Resort

Up and running at 7am and it’s beach day. The beach bags and mats provided in the room were a great touch and made our beach day planning so much easier. Railay beach awaits us today, post which we plan to spend our evening at the fantastic panoramic rooftop bar at Ao Nang Cliff Beach Resort. The views keep getting more majestic, the more we explore this property. The breakfast spread has just come into view, and looks like its going to give the dinner buffet a run for its money. Our plates overflowing with delicious waffles and pancakes, waiting in line at the omelette bar, we are going to need all the carbs we can get today. Our first day at Ao Nang Cliff Beach Resort was absolutely magical, with breathtaking views all around us. It truly is a world within itself and the resort with the best sunset in Krabi.

Ps. If you thought this view was magical, check out this crowned jewel of Koh Lanta for a villa right over the Andaman Sea.
