4 POPULAR THINGS TO DO IN LAS VEGAS

LAS VEGAS CASINOS

Without a doubt, Las Vegas is a gambler’s paradise, and trying out your luck is a popular thing to do in this city. There is no shortage of casinos offering endless table games and slot machines that intrigue you with their flashy lights and ka-ching sounds. Besides, casinos in Vegas are open 24/7 365 days, so you could very well begin and end your day taking chances with your money. In fact, you can even begin as you land at the McCarran airport that hosts slot machines. However, be cautious and indulge at your own risk. You could instead just save some of that money for all the other fun things you could do while in Vegas.

HIT A NIGHT CLUB

A fun thing to do with your group besides gambling while in Las Vegas is to hit a night club. As a party-goers hub, the Strip in Vegas is lined with night clubs one, better than the other. With extraordinary interiors, striking concert-like lightings, grand chandeliers, music by top DJs, you can be sure to party and dance the night away like a rock star. Plus, every night here in Las Vegas seems like a Saturday.

Some of the top clubs are Hakkasan at MGM Grand, Tao at Venetian, Marquee at the Cosmopolitan, Omnia at Caesars Palace, Drai’s in the Cromwell Hotel and the list goes on.

POOL PARTIES IN SUMMER & ICE-SKATING IN WINTER

Now, if you still wish to party but in a more casual setting, dress down, and want to continue soaking in that desert sun to work on your tan, you can attend the countless pool club parties. During summer, to keep their guests cool from the desert heat, several hotels host pool parties with top DJs setting the tone for the day, to luxurious cabanas, champagne showers, and more.

One such hotel is The Cosmopolitan that entertains its guest with pool parties in summers and a winter wonderland during the holiday season. If you are traveling to Vegas in the cooler months of December, instead of pool parties, you get to experience pools converted to ice-skating rinks made with real ice. The Boulevard Pool at the Cosmopolitan gets converted into a rink, where you can glide on ice in the middle of a desert, sit by the fire roasting s’mores, and occasional snow showers.

No matter the time of the year, Vegas knows how to entertain its guests and be a perfect host all year long.

PIANO BARS

If loud music, dark spaces with bright, flashy lights, or being packed like sardines at a pool club party is not your thing, and you would rather enjoy your drinks in a laid back setting then hit the Piano Bars spread across the Strip. Piano bar is a great place to sip on some drinks, listen to live music, and even have your requested songs played by the pianist. It is a great way to unwind and spend a musical day in the city.

We loved our time at the ‘Piano Bar’ in Harrahs Hotel & Casino. You could even have a piano bar night in New York at the ‘Bar at Times Square’ or perhaps whisk away to Paris Las Vegas and enjoy your time at ‘Napoleon’s Dueling Pianos’

Other than the piano bars, we also recommend heading to Margaritaville’s 5 O’Clock Somewhere Bar and order yourself the drink named exactly that, 5 O’Clock Somewhere!

HOTEL HOPPING

This is a fun activity to do in Vegas and a refreshing change from the gambling vibe across the city. Hotel hopping in Vegas is super fun for everyone and more so for families with kids. Vegas is all about the grandeur, and every hotel tries to top the other when it comes to aesthetics. These individually themed hotels decorate their open areas which keeps changing as per the season and is a total treat to the eyes. If you go during fall, expect the decoration and colors to be fall-themed, floral during spring, and decked with lights and giant Christmas trees during the winters and the holiday season.

Hotel Hopping is a fun thing to do in Vegas besides gambling. Perfect for families with kids.

Visit ‘The Bellagio Conservatory & Botanical Gardens’ at the Bellagio Hotel, a 65-foot Christmas tree at the Venetian, ice-skating rink, and snow showers at The Cosmopolitan. While at The Cosmopolitan, witness their permanent 44 feet tall Chandelier with layers of beaded curtains full of light spreading across multiple levels that can be admired from several vantage points.

You have probably marveled at the incredible architecture in Vegas, and the next best thing to do is get lost in spectacular musical shows. Choose from the 6 Cirque du Soliel shows for a magical time while in Vegas. Get away from the sounds of slot machines and enter into a space of music, a riot of colors, and spectacular sights of these talented artists performing for you. Catching these while on your getaway to Sin City is a must. We loved O at the Bellagio Hotel & Casino, and of course, The Beatles LOVE at The Mirage.

Four others that you can choose from are at MGM Grand, Michael Jackson ONE at Mandalay Bay Resort & Casino, Mystère at Treasure Island, and Zumanity at New York New York Hotel & Casino.

EAT YOUR HEART OUT

Enter a food coma on your trip with the elaborate buffets held by several of the top hotels here in Vegas. You have countless to choose from to devour all that delicious food and eat till your heart’s content.

We have two personal favorites, ‘Buffet’ at Bellagio and next would be the best buffet in the world, ‘Bacchanal Buffet’ at Caesars Palace.

Please note the waiting time (as seen in the picture below) can be crazy, but it is worth it. Plus, this way, you can build upon that hunger and then devouring all that food will be all the more satisfying.

HEAD TO FREMONT STREET

Just like the Las Vegas Strip, another popular street is in downtown Vegas called Fremont Street. Head to this dazzling street with bright blinding lights for a night of fun. Some of the fun things to do here are, of course, the usuals like gamble, have drinks, and eat.

Other than that, check out Viva Visions. A complimentary 6-minute light show that runs every hour, and all you need to do for that is look up!

Next, feel the rush and zip through under the flashy lights with Slotzilla. A super fun zip lining experience right in the centre of all the madness. You have two lines to pick from: Lower Zipline – About 77 feet high and Upper ZoomLine – About 114 feet high.

While strolling around amidst the crowd and vibrant lights, feel free to stop over to enjoy some free open-air concerts.

All these unique experiences make Fremont Street stand out from the Strip making it an equally a fun place to visit during your time in Las Vegas.

RIDE THE HIGH ROLLER

No view can get better than this to have a bird’s-eye view of Las Vegas in all its shimmering glory. Ride the world’s tallest observation wheel, a 550-foot tall one located at The LINQ right on the Strip. Ride this High Roller with transparent pods to give you a clear view of the city. You can even amp up this experience by paying a little extra and upgrading to the Open Bar Happy Hour option.

We recommend going there at night as this city looks prettiest, shinning with its dazzling lights on. Sunset is another great time to go up in the High Roller. Enjoy some drinks in the pod during sunset, and have yourself a unique sundowner with incredible views.

I’ve always know Las Vegas to be a place of gambling and partying (even though I haven’t been there). But it’s cool to know that there are other fun activities besides those. The fountain show is really something.

Indya | The Small Adventurer

Ooh, both pool parties AND ice skating sound right up my alley – too bad they occur at opposite times of the year! I’d definitely need to go on the observation wheel, too. I bet the view from that is amazing!
