Top things to do in Aruba-Your Romantic/Honeymoon Guide

Aruba beach with Flamingos

Now that you have finalized on Aruba for your honeymoon or just a romantic island getaway with your boo let us tell you, you have made the perfect choice and there is no better place than this one happy island to add even more happiness to your love life. From swimming at Flamingo Beach Aruba to laying on powdery white sand stretches of Palm beach or going for a sunset cruise in Aruba here is a list of 6 things you can do with your partner to spend that relaxing and quality time with each other in paradise.

Things to do in Aruba Romantic Honeymoon

1. Have yourself a beach day:

You are on an island whose beaches are ranked in the top three in the world so a beach day with your love is definitely a must do!
Imagine yourself laying on a beach mat or a lounger next to your dearest, feeling the warmth of the sun, with sea breeze keeping you cool and the glare of that shimmering turquoise water brightening up your eyes.

Eagle Beach in Aruba

Pro tip: Now that you have your honey next to you, soft white sand beneath and endless sea in front of you, the next best thing to have would be some ice cold bubbly, beers or hey even fresh fruit tropical smoothies! We suggest drive down to the beach (our personal favorite is Eagle beach, which is also ranked number 3 in the world), carry a cooler with you filled with your fav items (Suggestion: fruits, some lime for that tequila if you like, beers, sodas etc.) and lay your beach towels and sip on those cool drinks in the tropical sunshine. Doesn’t that sound oh so relaxing and with the best company by your side? Sounds perfect to us! A great way to spend some quality time together and a must thing to do in Aruba on your romantic/honeymoon getaway.

Pizza party for two on Eagle Beach, the best beach in Aruba

(You can either get your cooler from home or buy them on the island from Superfood or several other supermarkets on the island)
Another tip: If you are a pizza lover like us you will love this tip! All that swimming and drinks can get you in the need for some food, and pizza is another love specially while on vacation. If that’s so for you and if you have a phone card, you are in for a treat. Call up Dominos, give them your location on the beach and they will deliver piping hot pizza on the beach for you! You can also ask them to come with the card machine but we suggest keep some cash with you to make it easier.

Have yourself a little beach party for two!

2. Champagne cruises:

Laying on soft white sand in Aruba is truly the most comforting feeling but now picture yourself laying on a sunbed of a luxury cruise, sun bathing, cruising the Caribbean Sea on the dancing waves, moving to some music and free flowing champagne, mimosas, and mojitos coming at ya! Doesn’t that sound like a perfect tropical date with your babe?
Sailing on Aruba Monforte luxury cruise was our best date with each other while on the island and it will be a perfect thing to do for all you couples on your romantic honeymoon as well! Being the water babies that we are and our love for the world under water, we even got to snorkel and witness beautiful corals in the Spanish lagoon where not many, rather hardly any tours take you.
To find out more on what you can expect while on this cruising date check out our personal experience with them.

3. Breathtaking sunsets:

Aruba also has some of the most stunning sunsets we have seen in our lifetime. Nature here is simply gorgeous. Before your dinner, head out to the beach, walk along the shore, hand in hand and watch the ball of fire dip in the sea turning the whole sky into a painting filled with colors. Take pictures, or simply admire the beauty around you and watch the magic unfold.

If you feel like swaying with the waves as you bid farewell to the sun for the day you can even book yourselves a sunset cruise in Aruba which is a great way to spend the evening with your loved one and in our opinion a must do thing on your romantic honeymoon!

But certainly try to catch sunsets while in Aruba…Here are some pictures that will make you not want to miss even a single sunset!

4. Spend your day at the Flamingo Beach Aruba:

Last but not the least, spend time with your partner swimming on a private island with flamingos casually hanging out with you as you float in the sea or swing on the hammocks.

How to get to the Flamingo island:

This private island called the Renaissance island also goes by or is recognised by a couple other names like the Flamingo island or the Flamingo Beach Aruba. The island is about a short boat ride from downtown, precisely from the Renaissance Aruba Resort & Casino hotel in downtown. There is a complimentary water taxi running to and from the hotel’s lobby and the private island every 15 minutes. The island is open from 7am to 6pm.
However, the entry onto this private island comes with a fee. If you are a staying guest at the hotel you have a complimentary, unlimited and guaranteed access to the island and to see these pretty birds.

If you are not staying at the hotel you can buy passes to visit this private island for around $125 per person which includes ferry ride to and from the island, one complimentary drink and a meal (lunch or breakfast).
Also unlike before where you had to go to the hotel’s front desk to purchase the passes, now you can instead visit this page: https://renaissancearuba.idaypass.com/ to secure your passes. However, know that you can only purchase passes one day prior to your visit and the spots get added from 7 am each day. If you are really keen on visiting the Flamingo Beach Aruba we suggest keeping a close eye as they only release about 30 passes each morning which get sold out super fast.

Spotting flamingos on Renaissance island:

Post a quick boat ride with the sea breeze having kept you cool it is now time to bask in the sun and indulge in the play of natures’ colors. Be ready to spot these pink beauties against that shimmering turquoise water, it is truly a sight to behold.

Renaissance island is divided into two sides: Adult & Family side.
As you get off the boat: Turn right for the adult side aka the Flamingo Beach Aruba & left for the family side aka the Iguana beach.

Iguana's at Flamingo Island Aruba

We recommend going on the first boat out when the island opens at 7am. This gives you plenty of time to interact with the flamingos and maybe take some photos or just relax before the crowd sets in. A little tip for approaching these birds is by feeding them food. There is a gumball machine that dispenses food for these birds that can help you in approaching these beauties. The machine only accepts US quarters so remember to carry some with you. Also please remember at the end of the day they are living beings with their own free will so don’t forcefully try to get close to them. If they are not sticking around for that picture just let it be, they are pretty friendly otherwise. And this is where going early also helps as they are most likely up for being fed then and haven’t had too many people approaching them.

Another important piece of information even though this is an adult only side: from 9 to 10am kids are allowed to interact with and visit these birds, so it tends to get a bit busy.

Other than swimming in the beautiful sea and hanging out with these celebrity famous flamingos, you can also indulge in watersports, rent out the overwater cabanas, go for a pre-booked Spa treatment (a must thing to do in Aruba on your romantic honeymoon) or simply rent a $6 float and just relax surrounded by beauty.

PS: Use plenty of sunscreen and carry it with you as there aren’t many shaded areas on this private island, unless you rent the private cabanas which are quite pricey.

5. Go on a drive to the California Lighthouse:

If you have rented a car for your stay (which we highly recommend you do), go for a drive with your partner to take in some stunning 360 views of the island’s western coastline. Located on the island’s northwestern tip stands tall the famous landmark Aruba Lighthouse officially called California Lighthouse named after a shipwreck nearby.

Aruba Lighthouse

Now for $5 you can even go all the way up to enjoy spectacular views of the island’s rugged coastline, with deep blue hues on one side and pristine white sand beaches with catamarans floating on the shimmering shades of turquoise water on the other.
During the day along with some wild goats roaming about freely, there are also food trucks parked in front of the Aruba Lighthouse where we like to buy flavored shaved ice to go with the hot sun.
We would also highly recommend going here during the sunset hour as the view gets all the more colorful. It is a sight to watch all the nature’s colors come to play and melt into each other to form a magical painting as the big orange ball of fire dips into the Caribbean Sea.

Sunset from Aruba Lighthouse-Magical thing to do in Aruba for a romantic honeymoon

Another of our favorite hour to go up to the Aruba Lighthouse area is during the night. No tour buses, and automobile movements, just stillness and peace with only the sound of the wind. Also there is nothing like watching the island covered under a blanket of stars and the Lighthouse bathing in the moonlight with the shimmering lights of the high-rise in the distance. However please be extra careful driving up and down the road to the Lighthouse during the night time as the street lights are scarce, the road is narrow and also curvy at certain points. Drive with caution irrespective of the time of the day.

Also note that the hours to be able to go inside and all the way up into the tower are from 9am-7pm.

Another not to miss spot in the area are the vast California white sand dunes. Soft sand with views of scattered hues of brown and green and cacti is an unexpected surprise for most. You can stop here for a while, roam around on foot and even try some dune surfing!
Please do not drive over the dunes, explore on foot all you want.

6. Try your luck at the many Casinos:

Another fun thing to do is to try your luck at the Aruba casinos, more so with your lady luck by your side 😉

Most resorts on the island have their very own in-house casinos offering everything from roulette, poker to a great variety of slot machines.

FYI: The legal age to enter the casinos on the island is 18 years.

We hope with this list of top things to do in Aruba you are ready for creating endless unforgettable moments of love on this romantic honeymoon getaway but definitely check out our other categories mentioned below, for we are sure you will find more things to enhance your experience.

I visited Aruba a few years ago and would agree with you that it is the perfect place for a romantic getaway. We didn’t make it to the Flamingo Island if truth be told we couldn’t drag ourselves away from the pool and cocktails! We did, however, do one of the cruises which was wonderful. Such nice memories were brought back to life reading your post.

Ohh Aruba, how fancy! I know Aruba mostly because of the Flamingo beach. But one thing I can’t really understand, visitor with kids have to go to Iguana beach? The kids are not welcome on Flamingo beach?

However, Aruba all looks beautiful and a dream come true destination!

Truly a romantic getaway. Spotting flamingos probably would be my first interest as have never seen such beautiful ones before. Beaches are my favorites at all times. Add to that the champagne cruise, visit to the flamingo island and a bit of gambling it surely would make for a fascinating trip.
